Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following wars: Post-World War I (WWI), World War II (WWII). Contains photographs of the following military units and organizations: 23rd General Hospital; 348th Station Hospital, Headquarters (HQ) 28th Infantry Division. General description of the collection: The John G. Knauer photograph collection consists of collection of photographs spanning his career. Early photos are of Camp Meade, Maryland, including physical therapy of wounded and recuperating WWI soldiers. Activities of the 23rd General Hospital at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, and in the European Theater of Operations (ETO) during WWII including numerous photos of individual personnel as well as activities at field hospitals in Casablanca and Italy. Numerous photos of some before and after shots of major architecture of Berlin, Germany, in 1945. Also included within this collection are images of Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Fort Riley, Kansas; the 348th Station Hospital in 1945; and a few photos dealing with HQ, 28th Infantry Division.
